Holiday travelers can expect a clear path, more drivers and lower gas prices

Gas prices are lower and clear skies should make it easier for people to hit the road this holiday season.

More from 91.9 million Americans planning to travel around 11 days which includes the Christmas holiday and new year, according to AAA. It was a 1.4 percent increase from last year.

While many people are traveling by car, which had seen a 2.1 percent, those who choose to fly diminish 9.7 percent from last year. Drop linked to a leap in the air, an airline ticket has risen about 21 percent from a year ago.

“There is no question consumers remain challenging,” said Jim Hanna, the AAA executive vice president for public affairs and Government.

“Our area is one that tend to be traveling by car as opposed to water,” he said.
